The Core is a non-profit youth organization that has been in the public eye of Santa Cruz since 2002. Our reason for being is to facilitate an endless amount of positive experiences for the youth of Santa Cruz ranging from concerts to professional speakers to classes, mentorships to surf contests, and dances. But no matter what the experience is, it is created by kids and for kids (well, mostly young adults because they are in high school). They come up with the ideas and then make them happen. In the process they are empowered, learn life skills, build confidence, obtain a sense of achievement, and have fun!
In just eight years, we have held or hosted over 350 events. These events have raised funds for The Core, increased awareness in our community and linked kids together in a positive manner.
And Santa Cruz is listening. Our kids publicly share their vision of The Core at speaking engagements like the Santa Cruz Redevelopment Agency, Sunrise Rotary, Santa Cruz Parks, and most importantly, among their peers.
