The Core Schpot
The Core finally has a home!!!
Thanks to Danny Keith, The Core Schpot has been created inside of Santa Cruz Skate Shop - 912 41st Ave. - next door to Family Cycling Center
We have a whole portion of the front of SC Skate for our very own!!! Come check it out. We have a big screen TV with Xbox and plenty of games, lots of comfy couches, a snack machine, a pool table, and a foosball table.
You are welcome to hang out whenever SC Skate is open for business!
The Core also hosts various after-hours events at The Core Schpot/SC Skate Shop. Check this web site often for upcoming events and send an email to kim@thecoresc.org or kim@kimclary.net and ask to be put on The Core email team so that you will never miss out on all of the cool stuff The Core is doing!
Various responsible members of The Core are what we call "Boss Man's". They are the individuals "in charge" at The Core Schpot.
Here are the rules for The Core Schpot and the responsibilities of the Boss Man:
The Core Schpot Commandments
Treat everyone and everything as you would Like to be treated.
1. A Boss Man must be on duty for anyone to use the XBox or TV.
2. When you are finished using anything electronic…TURN IT OFF!!
3. Sign in on the clipboard on the appropriate day.
4. Throw away your trash and pick up after yourself, your mom isn't here to do it for you. This is YOUR hangout spot, so treat it with lots of respect so it doesn't disappear.
5. Respect all equipment. If it breaks, don't freak out - tell the Boss Man on duty so that it can be repaired. No one will yell at you. Accidents happen. If you or the Boss Man thinks that you may have been partly responsible, you may be asked to contribute to the cost of replacing the item.
6. No inappropriate language. If the Boss Man catches you, he/she has the authority to issue you 10-25 pushups depending on how bad the word is. If you do not do the pushups, the Boss Man has the authority to kick you out.
7. No rough housing. If you do, the Boss Man can issue you 15 pushups for the first offence, 30 for the second, and if you rough house a third time, the Boss Man can kick you out.
8. Put list of allowed boss man's on board
Boss Man's Duties
Boss Men/Women must be at least 15 years old unless approved by Kim Clary.
You may not be Boss Man unless your name is on the "commandments" board of allowed Boss Man's. If you would like your name to be on the list, talk to Kim Clary for approval (831-227-4204)
Sign up for your time slot on the Muir Cat calendar on the bulletin board
If you cannot come to the time that you signed up for, you can find a replacement and text Kim Clary who that replacement is. If you cannot find a replacement, then no one will get to use the Xbox or TV for that time slot.
Boss Men/Women have total authority.
When your shift starts:
1. When you arrive at The Core Schpot, text Kim "boss man reporting for duty" at 831-227-4204 so that you can start accumulating points for the hours that you are there.
2. Sign in on the write the time you come in on Boss Man Sheet clipboard
3. Nicely ask for the key at the counter.
4. Unlock the padlock and return the key to behind the counter.
DO NOT leave the key out!!! We do not want someone taking off with it or it getting lost.
During your shift:
1. Make sure everyone signs in on the clipboard on the appropriate day.
2. If something breaks or is missing at the beginning or end of your shift, make a note of it on the clipboard
3. Boss Man monitors who gets to use the Xbox and for how long. The group that is playing Xbox or waiting to play makes the time limits for how long each person gets to play before the next person goes - majority rules. Boss Man is allowed to play for 2 minutes more per turn than everyone else.
4. If the Boss Man hears any inappropriate language, he/she can issue 10-25 pushups depending on how bad the word is. If the offender does not do the pushups, the Boss Man can kick them out.
5. Keep the place clean and make sure people are being respectful.
6. No rough housing. The Boss Man can issue 15 pushups for the first offence, 30 for the second, and if a person rough houses a third time, the Boss Man can kick he/she out.
When your shift is over:
1. Ask the people that are still there to help you clean up any trash,
2. Make The Core Schpot look better than when you started your shift,
3. Take the game out of the Xbox and but it back in the right box
