The Core Schralpfest Surf Contest
Annually on the first weekend in June
The Core Schralpfest Surf Contests of 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, and 2011 were eight of the most successful contests the Santa Cruz community has ever seen!
Each contest hosted between 60 and 100 competitors and approximately 2000 spectators. The surf contests have captivated the people of Pleasure Point with live bands, DJs, sponsor tents, sponsor banners, the Santa Cruz Surfboard demo, and the extremely popular raffle. Over 5000 flyers associated with each contest were distributed and displayed throughout the community. Each contest has received considerable support from The Sentinel newspaper which printed extensive coverage before and after the events. Pre-contest marketing was also acknowledged by KDON, KSCO, and KZSC radio. Massive emails blasts reached our greater than 2000 online supporters. The buzz around town before the events is positive and enthusiastic, and the buzz after the events is phenomenal!
